Species such as <\/span><b><i>Clostridium novyi<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and engineered strains of <\/span><b><i>Salmonella typhimurium<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can selectively colonize the low-oxygen regions of tumors, allowing them to deliver anti-cancer compounds directly to cancerous tissue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientists are also developing oncolytic viruses, viruses designed to infect and kill cancer cells while largely sparing healthy cells. Examples include modified <\/span><b><i>Herpes simplex virus<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><i>Adenovirus<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which can destroy tumor cells and stimulate immune responses against cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another exciting area of research focuses on the gut microbiome. Studies have found that bacteria such as <\/span><b><i>Bifidobacterium<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><i>Akkermansia muciniphila<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may improve the effectiveness of cancer immunotherapy by helping the immune system recognize and attack tumors more efficiently.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although many of these approaches are still being refined, they are opening new possibilities for more precise and personalized cancer treatments.
